Score: SEA@MIN 5/8/09

MIN 11 SEA 0

Pitchers:
Scott Baker RHP Twins 7.0IP 5H 5K
He did a good job mixing in all of his pitches. He doesn't have overpowering stuff, but he was able to locate well enough that he didn't give up a single extra base hit. He looked like a solid #3/4.

Chris Jakubauskus RHP Mariners 4.1IP 8H 9ER 3BB
He looked over matched in this game. He has average/below average stuff and the Twins hitters weren't fooled by any of his off speed offerings. He gave up 3HRs and 2 2Bs. He is a below average Big League Starter and should be used out of the bullpen or given more seasoning in the minors.

Joe Nathan RHP Twins 1.0IP 2K
He looked dominating in his one inning. He used his FB,CB,SL extremely effectively and blew away the Mariners hitters. He may be the best closer in the game today.

Position Players:
Franklin Gutierrez CF Mariners
He flashed an above average arm on a throw to home plate. He didn't throw out the runner but it showed his arm strength is above average.

Kenji Johjima C Mariners
Jakubauskus didn't pitch well, but Johjima didn't help his cause. He continues to hurt his pitchers from getting borderline calls by his inability to frame pitches.

Twins Hitters:
Mauer, Morneau, Harris and Buscher all hit long HRs and Kubel missed a HR by six inches and the inability of the baggie in RCF to help him out. This lineup has some great hitters and some hitters that were helped by the ineffectiveness of Jakubauskus.
