Score: BAL @ TOR 5/1/09

TOR 8 BAL 4

The Good:

Roy Halladay RHP Blue Jays 8.0IP 10H 4R 3ER 1BB 6K
Each game he has pitched this year he has pitched at least 7IP. He showed with tonight's gutsy performance why he is one of the best pitchers in the game. He worked primarily FB/CUT/CB/CH. He threw 80/117 pitches for strikes and had a 14GO/4FO. He is a definite Ace!

Nick Markakis hit a HR on a CB that was down and over the middle of the plate. Most hitters would get a single off the hit, but Markakis kept his hands back and used almost all wrists to hit it out.

Luke Scott looked like he had Halladay's number all night, going 3-4 with 3 singles.

Kevin Millar went 2/5 with 3RBI against his old team. The most surprising thing is that he hit a double down the right field line!

Adam Lind hit a long HR to dead CF on a hanging CB from Dennis Sarfate

The BAD
Mark Hendrickson LHP Orioles 5.0IP 9H 4ER 2BB 2K
After the third inning, the Blue Jays figured out Hendrickson's below average offerings and were consistently hitting him hard.

Brian Roberts went 0-5 with 2K looking. Not a fun night for Roberts who had some things to say to the home plate umpire after his second K. He'll look to rebound against a rookie tomorrow.

Chris Ray RHP Orioles 1.0IP 3H 2ER 1K 1HB
His command looked erratic and he was missing up with a lot of his pitches. His stuff looked explosive, which is good news for him after coming off Tommy John surgery.

The Ugly
Dennis Sarfate RHP Orioles 1.2IP 2H 2ER 2BB 1K 1HB
His first 8 pitches were ominous of the rest of his night: 5 balls, 3 strikes (all balls in play) 3 outs. He just didn't have it coming out of the pen and left the game with an injury. His FB(91-93) was below the 94-96 that we saw last year. I hope he has fully recovered from the shoulder surgery he had this past offseason.

Halladay/Barajas- There was a cross up in the 8th inning on a 95mph sinker that looked like it hit Barajas in the arm. Ouch!
